Mummy Constant has a really lovely competition on at the moment. It is open to both bloggers and non-bloggers so do pop over and take a look. I saw it as a great chance for the kids to get involved as a piece of their home-school work - after all it gets their imaginations going, helps them practice rhyming words, encourages their creativity and above all it is great fun!

Here is what they came up with:

Joshua had some seasonal ideas...

A mouse took a stroll through the deep dark wood.
SANTA saw the mouse and the mouse looked good.
"Where are you going to little brown mouse?
Come & have supper in my Lapland house."
"It’s terribly kind of you, Santa, but no -
I’m going to have lunch with a Gruffalo.”
 "A Gruffalo? What’s a Gruffalo?"
"A Gruffalo! Why didn’t you know?
He has a bigger belly than you, and a beard as long as a snake.
And his roar is so loud it will make you quake."
"Where are you meeting him?"
"Here, at the party that's groovy,
And his favourite food is Santa Smoothie."
"Santa smoothie! I’m off". Santa cried.
"Goodbye, little mouse," he ran off to hide.
"Silly old Santa! Doesn’t he know,
There’s no such thing as a Gruffalo?"

and here is Joshua's second idea...

A mouse took a stroll through the deep dark wood.
A REINDEER saw the mouse and the mouse looked good.
"Where are you going to little brown mouse?
Come & have supper in my Arctic house."
"It’s terribly kind of you, Reindeer, but no -
I’m going to have lunch with a Gruffalo.”
"A Gruffalo? What’s a Gruffalo?"
"A Gruffalo! Why didn’t you know?
He has gigantic antlers, and a nose that glows.
And he has ever such scary and spiky toes."
"Where are you meeting him?"
"Here, in Santa's Grotto,
And his favourite food is Reindeer Risotto."
"Reindeer Risotto! I’m off". Reindeer cried.
"Goodbye, little mouse," he ran off to hide.
"Silly old Reindeer! Doesn’t he know,
There’s no such thing as a Gruffalo?"

Joshua's third idea...also seasonal as it began to snow today!
A mouse took a stroll through the deep dark wood.
A SNOWMAN saw the mouse and the mouse looked good.
"Where are you going to little brown mouse?
Come & have supper in my Igloo house."
"It’s terribly kind of you, Snowman, but no -
I’m going to have lunch with a Gruffalo.”
"A Gruffalo? What’s a Gruffalo?"
"A Gruffalo! Why didn’t you know?
He has black beady eyes, as black as coal.
And he wears a hat and a scarf that are very old."
"Where are you meeting him?"
"Here, by this ditch,
And his favourite food is Snowman sandwich."
"Snowman Sandwich! I’m off". Snowman cried.
"Goodbye, little mouse," he ran off to hide.
"Silly old Snowman! Doesn’t he know,
There’s no such thing as a Gruffalo?"

Daniel chose a Crocodile...
A mouse took a stroll through the deep dark wood.
A CROCODILE saw the mouse and the mouse looked good.
"Where are you going to little brown mouse?
Come & have supper in my water-full house."
"It’s terribly kind of you, Crocodile, but no -
I’m going to have lunch with a Gruffalo."
 "A Gruffalo? What’s a Gruffalo?"
"A Gruffalo! Why didn’t you know?
He has pointy ears, and bright red eyes.
And a stinky bum that terrifies."
"Where are you meeting him?"
"Right here, for lunch
And his favourite food is Crocodile Crunch."
"Crocodile Crunch! I’m off". Crocodile cried.
"Goodbye, little mouse," he ran off to hide.
"Silly old Croc! Doesn’t he know,
There’s no such thing as a Gruffalo?"

They kids had great fun coming up with these. So do go over and see how to enter your own on Mummy Constant's blog.
