Things I discovered...

One of my new year's resolutions is to join in with more linkys and blog hops. (Another is to actually spend less time blogging so I'm not quite sure which will happen). There are a few linkys we've tried to join in with over the past year or so but so many more that I always think to myself that I'd like to link up with but never quite get around to it.

So when @NotSoNormalMum from Everyone Else is Normal dropped me a note on twitter to join in with this month's Things I discovered I thought it would be one resolution I could keep, so here are a few things I discovered recently:

Eat
I picked up a pack of Tyrrell's Proper Popcorn in Mature Cheddar Cheese flavour when out shopping and 3 of us in the family polished off the pack in no time at all. It was soooo delicious and moreish. (Thankfully Daddy and J weren't so keen on the cheese flavour which left more for me, D and Miss T).

I have written it on the shopping list and will be stocking up on more soon! Who would have thought Cheese flavour popcorn would taste so great!

What's more, at the moment there is the chance to win a Cambridge Satchel every week on the Tyrrell's facebook page and you know me, I love discovering new competitions to enter.

Play
We've just really tried to enjoy staying indoors and playing at home this Christmas. Usually we try to make an effort to get out and get some fresh air but my arthritis has flared up which has forced us to stay indoors more so we've just dug out some old games as well as enjoy some of our lovely new toys from The Toadstool which arrived under the tree at Christmas and that has helped keep the children entertained. If you haven't yet seen just how amazing it was to have The Toadstool be Santa for us this year - read this!

Read
We've made some time to read too with me and J reading and reviewing Ruby Redfort: Catch Your Death . Even though it is technically a kid's book, I absolutely love the Ruby Redfort stories!

Place
We discovered that just in our local neighbourhood we could have lots of fun on our new Go Kart from Activity Toys Direct. I was trying to think of suitable places we could take the kids to ride it but it turned out they could have loads of fun just in our local neighbourhood.

People
It was lovely to get to see our nieces over the Christmas holidays. We don't often get to see them so it was really special getting to spend a bit of time with them.

Here they are playing with another of our favourite toys from The Toadstool - Mikado Pick-up sticks.

Blogs
I've discovered that having a bit of time off from blogging has not been a bad thing at all. We took a short Christmas break which meant that we could enjoy a bit of TV time and not be a slave to the computer each evening. I tend to be an 'all or nothing' person so it's no good trying to limit my time on the computer each day - the only way I can reduce online time is not to switch the computer on at all and that's what I'm going to try to do for at least a couple of nights each week.

I'm also going to try to 'rediscover' some blogs that I used to read in our early blogging days but then just found we didn't have time to keep up with. So hopefully I'll be able to make some time for that.

  2. Thanks R, this is a wonderful post for my linky! So chuffed to see you've picked up my heading themes too. I didn't know Lauren Child wrote that series. I'm guessing its a who dunnit type book for 10yrs+? BTW feel free to use my first name, Siobhan, when referring to me! Love to go and fix the linky problem.....Sx
