It seems strange writing this up on a very hot summer's day when it's all about a cold February evening but wanted to clear some of the photos off my phone.
Knowing what an incredibly long drive it is from Kent to Scotland, this time we decided to break up the journey with a one night stay in York.
Having seen Travelodge offer rooms for as little as around £30 (but never previously had managed to get a booking at that price), I wondered whether being totally flexible with which of the Travelodge's we stayed at in the York area would make a difference. Sure enough, not being in one of the city centre locations but being a little bit out of town, meant that I managed to get a room booked for £33.99 (We stayed at York Tadcaster Travelodge).
Here's a photo diary of our cold February evening in York...

For dinner-time, we ate at
Yakamoz which was an amazing restaurant serving Turkish food and it was delicious.
