Shoutykid GIVEAWAY and review

Review

With it's bright eye-catching cover and comic style drawings Shoutykid caught our attention immediately. Was this book going to be the next Wimpey Kid or Bill Gates? Is it going to be another diary-style funny book that will get us laughing our heads off.

Well that was the sort of thing we expected, but Shoutykid goes one step further with its innovative style of telling the whole story using emails, letters and forum chat conversations. And it wasn't just the unique style of book that we enjoyed but the actual plot was pretty cool too.

Here's an interview review with 9 year old J who read Shoutykid:
Mum: What is the book about?
J: Harry Riddles - A boy who plays World of Zombies all the time on the computer.

Mum: Can you tell us a bit about what happens?
J: Harry is doing a school play called the Scarlett Pumpernickel. He is the lighting person for the play. He likes a girl called Jessica. Ed Bigstock also likes Jessica.

Harry might need to go to a new school because his dad can't get any money for his movie script. Harry sends letters to people to try to solve his family's money problems.

Mum: What was your favourite bit?
J: When Ed Bigstock floods the loo! I thought the book was original and unique because of the way it was written because it was written as lots of letters and emails and stuff.

J's Summary:
Will Harry manage to save the day by getting some money for his family? Will Harry have to change schools? What will happen with Jessica? Will One Direction's Harry Styles ever reply to Harry Riddles' letter? Read the book to find out!
'I Love this book!' J aged 9

Resources

The Shoutykid website is really fun too. We loved the resources on there too. There are lots of downloadable activity sheets which are perfect for a rainy day at home. If we were still home-educating, resources like these are like golddust and we could make quite a project out of it working through them - Educational and fun - brilliant!

You can see the video trailer for Shouty Kid here.
